LUCID explores ideas of self-discovery, internal conflict, and the intricate framework of emotions that one experiences in this journey of self-discovery. The eyes are the protagonist of this narrative. They are the gateway to the mind and represent the self watching the self. I took inspiration from the idea of lucid dreaming, where one is aware that they can control their dreams, which is similar to self-directing a movie. The dichotomy in these two photographs is the imbalance of emotions. The first image represents the dream — a yearning to feel, hence the simulation of tears. The second image represents the nightmare, where differing emotions create a sense of overwhelm and loss of control.
