My practice explores contemporary media culture, specifically selfie trends as a tool for considering notions of self reflection, networked identity and forms of communication. My work reflects on the selfie as a positive tool and experience, and a large portion of my work employs techniques of drawing using digital technologies with blurring and blocking to create new gestural poses and hand movements that transform the selfie into an artwork. Here, I aim to make people aware of how fast and frequent methods of communication have altered our perception of self portraiture and the gaze.
