Painting

Nicole is a versatile artist whose creative endeavors span from painting to digital art, as well as photography. Her recent focus has been on exploring the concept of liminal spaces within her bodies of work. These spaces, characterized by their emptiness and eerie familiarity, evoke a sense of nostalgia mixed with a hint of uneasiness. Nicole finds inspiration in scenes such as deserted playgrounds at night, vacant school hallways, or empty parking lots, where the absence of human presence heightens the eerie atmosphere of the space.

In her recent work, Nicole has delved into the technique of painting directly onto printed-out photographs. This approach adds layers of depth and meaning to her art, as it blurs the boundaries between reality and imagination, challenging viewers to reconsider their perceptions of the spaces depicted. Through her exploration of liminal spaces and experimental techniques, Nicole invites viewers on a journey of contemplation, prompting reflection on the complexities of memory, nostalgia and the passage of time.

Liminal Spaces

This collection of works revolves around the concept of liminal spaces, where typically bustling locations such as schools, train stations, parking lots, and gas stations are portrayed as eerily deserted and often times dark. These depictions of liminal spaces evoke a sense of nostalgia and familiarity, drawing viewers into a realm that may feel hauntingly recognizable, even if they have never physically encountered such scenes before.
