My work explores the use of colour in environments and how colour can be a core storytelling tool artists can use. I've always found colour fascinating and inspiring for the emotional and mental connection a person or even a culture can have with a certain colour tone. Through my exploration of colour I play with the effects of how it can change an environment and bring more to it. Through the use of traditional media and digital media I can create the environments using dry and wet mediums like charcoal and watercolour. And then upload them digital where I can manipulate the hues, tints, and create an even stronger visual for the environment. An environment can tell a story using colour and create an atmosphere where the viewer can feel the emotions being presented with the colour palette. I continue to explore the mixture of mix media and learning with colour and how it brings forward a visual story an audience can connect to.

The Earth The Earth shows the dirt and ground our world is built on. This piece is the beginning of the series and the lighting for this piece starts the viewer in the morning light to begin their journey. With the colouring being strong with yellow hues and bright greens to contrast the dark browns of the dirt.
The Hidden Path The Hidden Path is the second illustration of the series. The viewer is placed in a tight path between mountains in mid-day lighting with the sun high in the sky. The colours have shifted to a warm yellow and calm sky blue behind the dark greys of the mountain path, creating the distance between the viewer and the blue sky in the background.
The Moon's Light The Moon's Light is the third piece being placed surrounded and consumed by the environment around the viewer. The light source has changed to the moon to show the change in time from day to night, continuing the journey being told. The colour palette is now dark and murky with strong dark blues and greens being contrasted with the hue of the moon radiating onto the tips of the trees creating the light green.
The Night Sky The Night Sky is the final piece of this series where the viewers journey comes to a colour end. The environment is vast and brightly lit by the northern lights filling the sky. The colours are balanced with light and dark, where the surrounding environment is dark from the night sky. And then the bright colours of the northern lights contrasting the environment and creating a majestic scene.

Colours Of A Day

Four illustrations showcasing different parts of an environment. Using Charcoal and graphite to design and shade the piece and then manipulated the colour pallet underneath the drawing digitally. Brining together traditional media and digital media. Following the pieces in order the viewer follows a journey of light and colour starting with morning light and ending with night sky.
