VCD – Character Design & Illustration
yentarciea.carrd.coStorytelling and characters had been massive in my practices. Instead of designing characters and illustrating on tablets or on paper, I found myself enjoying more when creating them through fabric. The more I played around with textile, the more experience I gained, finding myself becoming a self-taught textile artist. My works are mainly focused on designing a character like a figurine on a stand, but I would do soft sculptures and relief on canvas with fabric.
Multi Persona
As a self-taught textile artist, my work, Multi Persona, reflects my multi personality. In society, each individual shows their one main persona that they are known for, and I am known for being a shy person. My creation expresses the struggle with other four characteristics, such as the motherly, childish, aloof, and rebel, which I want to be known for that tries to override the shy. The five persona are created as if they are their own individual, placing them together, and allowing the shy one as the main in the center. All these four connect to the shy by the red yarn, representing the human blood vines, showing these four are intertwined in one body.
