Levi-Leslie Martin is currently based in Treaty 7 Territory (Mohkinstis/Calgary, Alberta), completing her Bachelors at the Alberta University of the Arts. Her work is interested in exploring childhood trauma and the functionality of memories. She also tries to process and explain her experience remembering trauma in a more physical realm. These topics are explored through her use of materials, resulting in uncomfortable imagery of young children. In working with various materials such as house paint, gel medium, projection, sound, video and fabric. Her work often alludes to the idea of remembering previous loss and distress. The combination of images of young girls and the disturbing qualities of the work questions her identity and how it is influenced by past tragedy.
