Nina Patafi is an illustrator and animator who likes making weird little people. She is currently living in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Clutter This film was completed in October 2020 and has been screened at the AUArt's student-run Screen Gallery. It has been selected for the Florida Animation Festival for June 2021.

Test Layout The original design of the main character was very different -- a nondescript little green person who I thought the audience could project on. In the end, a more fleshed-out character design was called for: detailed human features would get across the grimey, gross feeling I wanted to portray.

Clutter

“Clutter” is a 2D stop-motion animation, utilizing paper cut-out, marker, acrylic paint, plasticine, wool, and pieces of garbage. I began filming at the university and then moved production into a home after COVID-19 hit. I would not have been able to complete this project without rental equipment from Quickdraw Animation Society. Thematically it touches on hoarding and why we do it. I was initially inspired by my pile of old bus passes, ID cards, and hotel cards that I have held onto, due to a sentimental love for these now-defunct pieces of the past.

The Night Terrors Film Society is a local group of 35mm film collectors - you can attend their screenings of horror/exploitation films at the Globe Cinema. Using wire and polymer clay, I created a creature meant to be representative of these films.
